According to transfer news from The Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t Mirror], Chelsea could be looking to offload at least 10 players. The Blues want to add another couple of names to the side but will have to sell first and a host of names are under consideration to be sent out of the exit gates.
The Blues have signed their first big name of the transfer window with Romelu Lukaku returning in a mammoth £97million deal from Inter Milan. However, there seem to be more targets for Chelsea such as Declan Rice, Jules Kounde and Aurelien Tchouameni. The catch is that Chelsea will have to sell players before they can sign more players.
From the looks of it, 10 players seem to be on the chopping block. Seven of the 10 names are fringe players who have spent the last few seasons away from Chelsea on loan. Ross Barkley, Davide Zappacosta, Michy Batshuayi, Kenedy, Danny Drinkwater, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Baba Rahman are all on offer if any club wants them (h/t Daily Mail).
The other three names are first-team players such as Kurt Zouma, Tammy Abraham and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Offloading even a few of these names should help Chelsea in their bid to secure one of Kounde, Rice or Tchouameni (h/t Daily Mail). However, the Blues would be hoping to get as many names off their books as possible as they have a pretty large squad at their disposal.
There is still some time left in the transfer window and Chelsea would want to get some more business done. Preferably they would want to offload more players than they sign. These players are not in the plans for Tuchel as it seems and selling them off would serve the club much better.
