According to Football.london, Chelsea starlet Dujon Sterling is set to join Blackpool on loan. The youngster has extended his deal with the Blues and will now head off to the Championship for his third loan spell away.
A youth product of Chelsea, Sterling has been with the club since 2007. He was promoted to the U-18’s in 2016 and went on to feature prominently that season. Another promotion followed next year with the U-23’s and it was at this level that he played the most with over 50 appearances.
He went out on loan to Coventry in 2018 and enjoyed a decent spell there playing 40 games over the season. On his return, he would again go out on loan this time at Wigan. He did not have the same level of success there and he has been playing for the U-23’s since last season. So, far he has only made two appearances for the senior side.
It would seem Sterling will be heading out on loan again. He will be going to Blackpool for the rest of this season. However, Chelsea made sure they extended his contract by two years before sanctioning the deal. His last deal was set to end after this season.
Sterling joins the long list of players who have been sold or loaned out this season as Chelsea continue to prune the squad. They have seen several departures but Sterling is a potential asset for the future and it makes sense to let him leave temporarily.
