Transfer News: Bundesliga giants weighing up loan move for Chelsea academy graduate

Callum Hudson-Odoi could be in the starting XI for Chelsea against Norwich City.

Borussia Dortmund are weighing up a loan move for Callum Hudson-Odoi

According to Sky Germany (h/t The Sun), Borussia Dortmund are eyeing a loan move for Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi

Borussia Dortmund are keen on striking a loan deal for the youngster as they look to add another winger to their ranks after they lost Jadon Sancho to Manchester United earlier this summer. However, the German outfit are yet to make a concrete offer for the Englishman.

The 20-year-old broke onto Chelsea’s first team back in the 2018/19 season under the stewardship of Maurizio Sarri and helped the club to a Europa League title. Hudson-Odoi could have played a more prominent role under Frank Lampard during the club legend’s first season in charge, however, injuries hampered the player’s season.

Hudson-Odoi could leave Chelsea on a loan deal this summer

Although he returned for the start of last season, the Blues had spent over £200million on their transfers, with a lot of the money on forwards like Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, and Hakim Ziyech.

Thus, the 20-year-old’s chances of playing have been short, although the Englishman did manage to start for Thomas Tuchel in the German’s first game in charge.

Hudson-Odoi had a fine pre-season this summer while he also started the UEFA Super Cup final in the right-wing back role (his primary position under Tuchel) two weeks ago but has failed to make an appearance since then.

With Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta set for the right-wing back role this year, Hudson-Odoi is down the pecking order in that slot as well. Thus, in a move that would benefit all the parties concerned, the 20-year-old should make the move to Germany this summer.
