“Chance of a lifetime”- Chelsea’s record signing pens open letter to fans of former club

Romelu Lukaku writes open letter to Inter Milan fans after completing move to Chelsea

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea summer signing Romelu Lukaku has penned an open letter to Inter Milan fans stating that he is gracious for their support in the last 2 years.

Lukaku signed for Chelsea this summer in a move worth £97.5million, becoming the most expensive transfer in the club’s history and came close to matching the amount for the most expensive signing in Premier League history; a record that was recently set by Manchester City when they signed Jack Grealish for £100million

Although Lukaku wanted to move back to West London, he enjoyed his time in Serie A and has now penned an open letter to Inter Milan, who supported him throughout his time there. He wrote (h/t Sky Sports):

“Dear Inter fans. Thank you… Thank you for making me and my family feel at home in Milano.

“Our first season ended in the toughest possible way, but you guys gave me the strength to continue to keep pushing and we did as a team. That’s why we became champions together”.

Lukaku made it clear he is extremely thankful for his time spent there and will forever remain an ‘Interista’. He also wrote how he hopes that Inter fans understand his decision to move to Chelsea as it was always his dream to come back to London.

“I hope you guys understand my decision to move on to Chelsea. It’s the chance of a lifetime for me, and I think at this time of my career it is a chance that I always dreamed of.”

The Belgian, who first joined Chelsea ten years ago, has had a roller-coaster of a career after spending time at Everton, Manchester United, and Inter Milan. While he scored goals wherever he went, it was at Inter where he became one of the best strikers in the world, courtesy of which the Blues splashed the cash to sign the 28-year-old.

Now at Stamford Bridge, the Belgian will be hoping to romp Chelsea to the Premier League title this season with his astute goal-scoring abilities.
