According to journalist Gianluca di Marzio (h/t football.london), Everton are eager to orchestrate a move for Chelsea ace Malang Sarr this summer.
The 22-year-old signed for the Blues last summer but was immediately sent out on loan to FC Porto for the entirety of the season. Sarr racked up 27 appearances in all competitions for the Portuguese club and returned to London at the end of his loan deal.
Thomas Tuchel did provide the Senegalese with quite a lot of minutes in pre-season as he featured in all three games for the Blues. However, the 22-year-old has failed to feature for the club since then as he was not named in the squad for the UEFA Super Cup final or the season opener against Crystal Palace.
The Senegalese could suffer for game-time this summer as the Blues already possess the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva, Cesar Azpilicueta, Reece James, Andreas Christensen, and Kurt Zouma in the centre-back roles.
Additionally, the emergence of Trevoh Chalobah to the first-team and the London club’s pursuit of Jules Kounde will also make it very hard for Sarr to rack up regular starts this season.
Although Everton are interested in making a move for Sarr, they will face competition from Italian club Bologna to secure the player’s signature this summer.
However, Sarr’s departure would not be the first going for the Blues this summer. The West London outfit have already brokered moves for Tammy Abraham, Marc Guehi, Fikayo Tomori, Olivier Giroud, and Kenedy, while a bunch of academy graduates have also been offloaded by the Blues.
Thus, Sarr could be on the move soon, however, it remains to be seen whether the Blues let the 22-year-old leave on a permanent transfer or on a loan move.
