Chelsea ace Antonio Rudiger contract situation being monitored by PSG and Real Madrid

According to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth, PSG and Real Madrid are monitoring the situation of Antonio Rudiger at Chelsea as the defender is set to weigh up all his options before he decides on his future at the club.

Rudiger’s current contract is set to expire next year, although the player has confirmed that he has begun talks over a new contract with the Stamford Bridge outfit. Nonetheless, Real Madrid and PSG are lying in wait, as they keep tabs on the development.

Dharmesh Sheth’s tweet read:

#CFC defender Antonio #Rudiger will weigh up all options before deciding on future. Contract talks with Chelsea underway. At 28, he sees next decision as biggest of his career. Rudiger fully committed to Tuchel & Chelsea this season. #RMFC & #PSG keeping eye on his situation”.

While there is uncertainty regarding the player’s future, the German international has made it clear to Thomas Tuchel that he is ready to give his all to the Blues this season.

Ahead of Chelsea’s penalty victory against Villarreal on Wednesday, Rudiger spoke about the situation in a press conference (h/t Daily Mail), saying:

“As I said before, I wanted to concentrate on the Euros then after I come back, talks can start. That is what has happened for now. Talks have begun and we will see what time brings”.

The German arrived at the club in 2017 and has since won the FA Cup, Europa League, Champions League and was also a crucial member of the club’s UEFA Super Cup win last night.

However, if the 28-year-old fails to sign a new contract, he would be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement in January with any club outside England, which would entail that the defender would leave on a free next summer.

Thus, PSG and Real Madrid will be on alert to sign the defender on a free next summer, should he fail to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge this season.
