Transfer News: Chelsea midfield star turns down new contract amid Serie A interest

Transfer News: Tiemoue Bakayoko refuses new Chelsea contract

According to transfer news from Daily Mail, Tiemoue Bakayoko has refused a new contract from Chelsea. The French midfielder wants a return to AC Milan where he spent a year on loan. The player’s agent confirmed that the Serie A side are an option that is available.

The 26-year-old joined Chelsea after an impressive spell at Monaco in 2017. Despite having a number of opportunities, the Frenchman failed to impress and struggled to assert himself at the Bridge. He was error prone and often cost Chelsea with his mistakes.

Just after one season he was shipped out on loan. He has since been sent out on temporary spells thrice, including Napoli last summer. The midfielder has a deal with Chelsea for another year but it seems he is not keen on an extension.

“We had a meeting a few weeks ago with Milan’s managers who are looking for a player in that position. This is a particular market, in which there is a need to sell before buying. Milan want to do something in that role. Baka left a good memory and he has a good memory of Milan. The Rossoneri have to do something in that role, so we had some normal small talk that is done in these situations.”

More Chelsea News:

A dominant midfielder for Monaco, much was expected of Bakayoko when he joined Chelsea. Unfortunately, despite his best efforts, it was not to be. It would now appear that his future lies elsewhere. That does seem the better option for Chelsea as they already have a set contingent on midfielders in the side.
