According to transfer news from football.london, Chelsea are likely to demand a fee of £30m for star striker Tammy Abraham, amid interest from West Ham United and Southampton.
The 23-year-old striker came through the youth ranks at Chelsea but got a first-team shot only in the 2019/20 campaign after loan spells away at Bristol City, Swansea City and Aston Villa. Abraham made the most of his chance under then-manager Frank Lampard to become the first-choice but lost his place to Olivier Giroud.
Following the arrival of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz in the summer of last year, Abraham’s game-time took a further hit. And once Thomas Tuchel took over the reins in January, the England international became pretty much of an afterthought as he was constantly dropped from matchday squads even when fit and available.
Indeed, Abraham played just 17 minutes of Premier League football between February and the end of the season, although he was injured for some time during this period. Despite all this, Abraham managed to finish the season as Chelsea’s joint top-scorer across all competitions, albeit with just 12 goals to his name.
Nevertheless, with Chelsea in the market for another centre-forward this summer, the Blues’ academy man looks set to be on his way out, with West Ham and Southampton interested. And the report further goes on to say that the Blues are likely to demand a fee to the tune of £30m for the England international.
Abraham was one of the first Chelsea players back for pre-season training, returning on Friday last week. His future, though, seems to be away from the Bridge considering how rarely he featured under Tuchel.
While there is no shortage in suitors for the 23-year-old, what remains to be seen is whether those clubs are willing to meet Chelsea’s valuation of the striker.
