Transfer News: Chelsea starlet Conor Gallagher decides on Crystal Palace move
According to transfer news from the Express, Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has decided to sign for Crystal Palace on loan, snubbing interest from Leeds and Newcastle United.
Gallagher, a product of the Chelsea youth academy, has made rapid strides over the past couple of years while away on loan. He spent the 2019/20 term away with Charlton Athletic and Swansea City.
The 21-year-old was also able to add some vital Premier League experience under his belt when he spent the 2020/21 term with West Bromwich Albion on a temporary basis. Back at Chelsea now, the youngster seems certain to head out again on a temporary spell due to the competition for places at the Bridge.
A number of Premier League clubs such as Leeds United, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace were vying for the young England Under-21 international’s signing on a temporary basis for the upcoming campaign. And, it seems like Gallagher has made his decision on where he wants to continue his development come 2021/22.
As per the aforementioned report, Gallagher has decided to snub the interest from Newcastle and Leeds. Instead, the 21-year-old is angling towards a move to Selhurst Park to play under Palace’s new manager, Patrick Vieira.
Palace had held an interest in Gallagher last summer as well but were unable to sign the midfielder after they had acquired Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea already.
Football.london’s Sam Inkersole confirmed on Twitter that Thomas Tuchel has authorised the move and Gallagher will be completing his medical with the Eagles later today before the move is completed.

Now, though, it looks like the 21-year-old could finally be making his way to Selhurst Park this summer. When confirmed, Gallagher will become the second player to make the switch from Chelsea to Crystal Palace in the current window, after Marc Guehi also joined the Eagles, albeit on a permanent transfer.
