Inter Milan firm up on Romelu Lukaku stance even as Chelsea prepare £110m bid
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla (h/t Express), Chelsea are preparing a massive offer worth £110m for Romelu Lukaku but will be met with rejection from Inter Milan.
Lukaku had a forgettable spell with Chelsea last decade when he was snapped up from RSC Anderlecht in 2011 but was farmed out on loan to West Bromwich Albion and Everton, whom he joined permanently in 2014 in a deal worth £28m.
The Belgian international developed into one of the most consistent goalscorers in the Premier League at Goodison Park and had a productive two-year stint with Manchester United as well, before he signed for Inter Milan in 2019.
Since moving to Inter Milan, the 28-year-old has taken his game up a notch, playing an integral role in the Nerazzurri’s Serie A title triumph in the 2020/21 season – their first in over ten years. The all-time leading goalscorer for the Belgian national team, Lukaku also shone brightly at the UEFA Euro 2020.
With Chelsea needing a new striker this summer, Erling Haaland has been heavily linked with a move. However, as the Blues are encountering difficulties in pursuit of the Borussia Dortmund ace, the thought of re-signing Lukaku has been playing on the mind.
To that end, Pedulla (h/t Express), has now revealed that the west London giants were readying a massive offer of £110m, having set aside the said sum. However, that is unlikely to deter Inter Milan’s stance, who remain firm on the matter, claiming that Lukaku will not be sold.

Given the success that he has seen in Italy, it was always unlikely that Inter would be willing to sell their star man this summer. The Blues would be better off focusing their efforts on a single target.
