Haaland’s response when quizzed about future amid Chelsea links even as Dortmund maintain firm stance

Erling Haaland responds to future questions amid Chelsea links

According to Christian Falk of BILD Sport, Borussia Dortmund striker and Chelsea transfer target, Erling Haaland, did not get anything away when he was quizzed on the topic of his future.

Haaland, 20, has emerged as one of the most prolific young forwards in the game over the past couple of years. Since joining Borussia Dortmund in January 2020, the Norwegian international has been near-unstoppable, plundering 57 goals in 59 matches so far.

Haaland’s exploits have firmly put him on the radars of Chelsea this summer, with the Blues on the lookout for a new striker as Olivier Giroud nears an exit and Tammy Abraham stares at an uncertain future. In fact, the reigning champions of Europe are said to have set aside £150m to sign Haaland from Dortmund this summer. (h/t Daily Mail)

Amid the speculations surrounding his future at Dortmund, Haaland was asked by BILD Sport if he would remain at the Signal Iduna Park this season, to which he responded with just a smile without saying anything, reports Christian Falk.

Borussia Dortmund firm on their stance

Make what you will of Haaland’s response, but Dortmund remain insistent that Haaland is not for sale this summer and they are planning for the next season with him in the scheme of things. A sentiment that director Sebastian Kehl reiterated during a recent interview with Sky Germany. (h/t Daily Mail)

“There is nothing new on this matter. He is in our plans. Erling will return this week and he will be very hungry. He wants to play football, he feels comfortable with us and he will be eager to score many goals.”

More Chelsea News:

It goes without saying that Haaland, if signed, can be a huge addition for Chelsea. More so, considering that Timo Werner struggled to find the back of the net last term. But with Dortmund remaining insistent that he is not for sale, the Blues will have a mountainous task at their hands to convince them to part ways with him.
