Chelsea icon set for crunch talks with new manager as he eyes Stamford Bridge return

Eden Hazard continues his love affair with Chelsea, this time at expense of Tottenham

Transfer News: Eden Hazard eyes Chelsea return amid uncertainty at Real Madrid

According to Spanish outlet Marca (h/t Mirror), Real Madrid winger, Eden Hazard, is set to hold talks with Carlo Ancelotti as he eyes a return to Chelsea.

The Belgian winger spent seven years at Stamford Bridge before leaving for Los Blancos. He had a tough time under Zinedine Zidane but Ancelotti’s appointment from Everton gave his Madrid future some hope.

However, despite the Italian manager’s fondness of the 30-year-old, Hazard wants to return to Chelsea where he is viewed as a club hero. Madrid are also in a tricky financial situation. (h/t Mirror)

They need to slash their wage bill as well as get some funds in through selling players, and Hazard could be a casualty. The Belgian winger was most recently in action at the 2020 UEFA Euro.

Hazard back to Chelsea?

He failed to make a big impression there but there is little doubt about his quality. However, it remains to be seen how he would fit in Thomas Tuchel’s side which features two wing-backs on the flanks.

Hazard enjoyed a successful time at Chelsea where he was a two-time Premier League champion as well as a two-time Europa League winner. It’s a shame he never got to add a UEFA Champions League medal to his tally. The Blues won their two UCL titles shortly before, and shortly after Hazard’s stay in London.

The financial structure of any such deal is not clear considering it is still early days for any potential reunion.

More Chelsea News:

Hazard is believed to be earning in the region of £415,000-a-week at Madrid. Any return to London must, thus, be carefully structured because dishing out that much money for a player in his 30s does not seem like a wise financial move.
