“Really, really difficult”: Fabrizio Romano issues warning to Chelsea over key transfer target

Chelsea will find it difficult to sign top target Erling Haaland claims Fabrizio Romano

Speaking on YouTube (h/t Express), reliable journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea will find it ‘really, really difficult’ to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

The 20-year-old has established himself as one of the most sought-after players in Europe after a blazing run of form at Dortmund since arriving in January last year. Haaland plundered 41 goals in as many games across all competitions for the Black and Yellows last term to help them to the top four in Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal triumph.

Chelsea have identified Haaland as a top transfer target for this summer, and understandably so, considering Tammy Abraham is out of favour under Thomas Tuchel while Timo Werner hasn’t exactly set the stage on fire with his goalscoring.

However, Romano has warned the Blues that any move for the striker will be difficult to pull off as Dortmund are under no pressure to sell after having cashed in on Jadon Sancho. (h/t Express)

“After selling Jadon Sancho, Dortmund are really relaxed. They are convinced they can do it and they can keep Haaland. If someone wants to sign Haaland this summer, Chelsea and other clubs, they will have to break the bank. It will be really, really difficult.

“His contract, you have to pay a huge salary if you want to sign him. Dortmund prefer to sell the player in one year and not right now. They want to enjoy Haaland. They don’t need money because they sold Sancho to Manchester United. They’re not in a rush. Haaland will be really, really complicated.”

Haaland, given his quality and proven pedigree, has the potential to be a game-changing signing for Chelsea this summer. But, as Romano claims, the Blues are likely to face an uphill battle to convince Borussia Dortmund to part ways with the Norwegian international.
