Chelsea to face Peterborough United in first pre-season friendly
According to football.london, Chelsea have confirmed their first pre-season friendly fixture as preparations for the 2021/22 campaign start to take shape.
The Blues will be gunning to make a strong start to the new term after winning the Champions League and finishing in the top-four of the Premier League last term. And, a good pre-season is something that will be crucial in setting the tone for a solid start to the season.
Manager Thomas Tuchel and several players who were not involved in any international tournaments over the summer are already back at the Cobham base to begin preparations. And things will kick up a notch once the pre-season friendlies get underway.
Chelsea have now confirmed that their first pre-season friendly will seem them square off against Peterborough United. The match will take place this Saturday, most likely at the Cobham training facility and will be a behind closed doors event, the report adds.
The Posh, who earned promotion to the Championship after finishing second in League One last season, should give a good test to the players.
Over the next fortnight, the Blues are also expected to head for a training camp in Ireland, where they are likely to play another friendly. Post that, preparations will ramp up further with The Mind Series pre-season tournament where Chelsea play London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal in the lead-up to the Premier League season.

As per the report, Chelsea currently have 29 players back in training at the Cobham facility, with Ross Barkley the latest to link up with the team on Tuesday. Fringe players like Baba Rahman, Danny Drinkwater, Charly Musonda are also among those involved along with several first-team stars in Edouard Mendy, Marcos Alonso, Hakim Ziyech, Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi among others.
