Transfer News: Chelsea receive boost in chase for Wout Weghorst
According to transfer news from Football.london, Chelsea have received a boost in the chase for Wout Weghorst. Wolfsburg’s managing director has made the striker available provided the German side receive an appropriate offer for the towering and prolific striker. The striker is rated at £27m.
Chelsea have had their issues with strikers over the years. Their seemingly expensive outlays on those frontmen have often not yielded the desired result. Timo Werner is the latest addition to that list after fluffing his lines on a weekly basis at Chelsea. Given the situation, Weghorst has emerged as a potential target for the Blues.
Weghorst is a name that should be familiar to German audiences by now. The powerhouse of a striker has been one of the most prolific strikers in the Bundesliga for Wolfsburg. He has scored 63 goals and assisted 21 in 120 appearances for them so far.
Weghorst was close to an exit last season. However, that failed to materialise but it would seem a departure could be on the cards for the Chelsea target this time around. Wolfsburg managing director Jorg Schmadtke has kept the door open for an exit if a suitable offer comes around.
“When an offer comes that satisfies all parties, things change.”

Chelsea would be wary of investing in another striker from the Bundesliga after what happened with Werner. However, Weghorst has shown consistency over the last few seasons and is a much different striker compared to Werner. Chelsea could ponder over this before making a move for the £27m-rated striker.
