Chelsea plan swap deal for £77m Bundesliga star; willing to offer academy graduate in exchange

Chelsea ready to offer Callum Hudson-Odoi for Kingsley Coman

According to L’Equipe (h/t Mirror), Chelsea are exploring the possibility of signing Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman in a swap deal that would see Callum Hudson-Odoi move the other way.

Coman has been with Bayern Munich since 2015, having initially joined on a two-year loan deal from Juventus before making the transfer permanent in 2017. While he had to play second-fiddle to Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery for the most part of his early stint in Bavaria, the Frenchman has come into his own over the past couple of seasons.

Coman enjoyed an impressive 2020/21 campaign, as he scored eight goals and set up 15 more for his teammates, helping Bayern Munich lift the Bundesliga title. Despite his progress on the field, the 25-year-old is staring at an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena this summer.

The situation emanates from a contract standoff between Coman and Bayern, with the club unwilling to meet his salary demands on an extension. With talks not progressing, the German champions may well be forced to sell the Frenchman this summer, alerting Chelsea.

Indeed, as per the report, the Blues are willing to offer Bayern Munich one of their own academy products as part of a deal to bring the former Paris Saint-Germain winger to the Bridge next summer. And the player who would be used as a makeweight in such an arrangement is Callum Hudson-Odoi.

A player that has been linked heavily with Bayern Munich in the past, the English international has struggled for game-time under new manager Thomas Tuchel.

More Chelsea News:

Bayern have set a transfer valuation of £77m on Coman. With the potential inclusion of Hudson-Odoi as part of a deal, that price tag should come down significantly. However, it remains to be seen if the German giants are open to such a deal for the French winger.
