Chelsea prepare a 12-man list as Tuchel plans massive summer overhaul

Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek on the chopping block at Chelsea.

Transfer News: Upto 12 Chelsea players in firing line as Thomas Tuchel plans exodus

As per Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur (h/t The Express), up to 12 Chelsea players are not in the plans of Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea and could be told to find new clubs this summer.

Loaning out young players year in, year out is not an alien concept at Stamford Bridge. However, the aforementioned list includes some high-profile names such as Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Danny Drinkwater.

Other players mentioned in the report are Tiemoue Bakayoko, Davide Zappacosta, Jake Clarke-Salter, Charly Musonda, Matt Miazga, Baba Rehman, Lewis Baker, Malang Sarr, and Trevoh Chalobah. (h/t The Express)

These are certainly some quality players but it is understandable why they could be ousted. None of the above players has really made a mark on Chelsea’s first-team recently.

Chelsea could see a mass clear-out

An exception to that is Malang Sarr, who is yet to have a chance at Stamford Bridge, having just returned from his loan spell at FC Porto. He was signed as a free agent in 2020 and instantly joined the Portuguese side on loan.

A loan move would make way more sense for Sarr than a permanent transfer considering he is yet to even kick a ball for Chelsea in the Premier League. Some of the other names, though, would be welcome sales for the club.

Bakayoko joined Chelsea in 2017 but has been loaned out multiple times to Serie A clubs since then.

Musonda, Zappacosta, Miazga, Rehman, Bakayoko, and Drinkwater have been at the club for a while but to no avail. It is unlikely they can force their way into the first-team anytime soon under the German boss.

The potential exit of the young trio consisting of Clarke-Salter, Baker, and Chalobah is something that Chelsea may live to regret in the future. But it would barely have any impact on the first-team set-up right now.

More Chelsea News:

Any sale that Chelsea do of the names mentioned above would also only generate added funds for the club if they were to pursue any signing in the summer.
