Transfer News: Man United give Chelsea boost in Eduardo Camavinga race
According to Manchester Evening News (h/t football.london), Eduardo Camavinga is not the first choice for Manchester United in midfield, leaving the door open for Chelsea to ‘steal a march’ on him.
The 18-year-old is on the radar of a number of clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain. However, it seems like the Red Devils are not keen on him as a priority signing.
This comes as a potential boost for the Blues as Camavinga is one of the most exciting prospects on the continent. The Frenchman currently plays his football for Rennes in Ligue 1.
According to Le Parisien’s Julien Laurens (h/t Metro), Petr Cech is also a ‘huge fan’ of the midfielder and still has a strong relationship with Rennes’ hierarchy. The Chelsea legend also helped the Blues signed Edouard Mendy last summer from the same club.
Camavinga to Chelsea?
Speaking earlier this week (h/t Metro), Rennes boss Bruno Genesio clarified that the club would not be against a sale for Camavinga in the summer.
“We have already stressed several times that we cannot afford to remain in this situation concerning an international player like him It’s part of a career to have important decisions to make, he has a very important one [decision] to make for his future, and we at the club also have our interests to defend.”
The teenager may not be fast-tracked into the first team already considering Chelsea have Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, and Mateo Kovacic. But if signed, he would be a big prospect for the future.

With Billy Gilmour loaned to Norwich City for next season, there is also a vacancy in Chelsea’s midfield, perhaps for a 4th central midfielder to add to the aforementioned trio.
