Chelsea looking to sell Timo Werner after underwhelming debut term
According to Sky Sport Germany (h/t Daily Mail), Chelsea are looking for suitors for star striker Timo Werner this summer and could use him as part of deal to sign Erling Haaland.
A £47.5m signing from RB Leipzig, a lot was expected of Werner, especially after his stunning 2019/20 season in Germany. However, he was only a pale shadow of his former self, managing a paltry tally of just six goals in 35 games in his debut season with Chelsea.
Werner was guilty of missing sitters one after another over the course of the campaign and looked like his confidence was competely shot at times. And even though he still has four years left on his contract with the club, Chelsea are now looking to offload him just a year after signing him, the report claims.
In fact, it has even been stated that the west London giants could use Werner as a sweetener in their bid to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. Indeed, the 20-year-old Norwegian, who has been scoring goals for fun, is a key target for Chelsea this summer but will cost huge money.
Chelsea, though, are seemingly hoping to bring the price down by including Werner as part of the deal. Dortmund, though, are said to have rejected the idea of such an arranagement. (h/t Daily Mail)

The Blues are reportedly asking around to see if any clubs are interested in the German international. Whether there is any truth to these claims remains to be seen. With Olivier Giroud gone and Tammy Abraham out of favour under Thomas Tuchel, losing Werner, despite his difficult debut season, would not be the ideal move.
