According to transfer news from Metro, Chelsea have been in contact with the representatives of Eduardo Camavinga. While it was assumed that Manchester United were after the player, Chelsea have now entered the race and have established contact as well.
Camavinga started his youth career at Drapeau-Fougeres in 2008 and moved to Rennes’ youth setup in 2013. Signing his first professional contract in 2018, he became the youngest player ever to sign a professional contract with the club.
Since debuting for the club back in 2019, Camavinga has come leaps and bounds over the last two seasons. The midfielder has become a mainstay in the Rennes side while also making his mark in the national team. So far, he has made 82 appearances for the French side, scoring twice and assisting five.
One of the brightest emerging talents to emerge over the last few seasons, it is easy to see why so many sides are after him. It has been said that Rennes would be willing to sell the player for €30m as his contract ends in 2022. Manchester United have taken initiative and are preparing a bid. However, Chelsea have also entered the race for Camavinga and have made contact with his agent.
At just 18 years of age, Camavinga is one of the most coveted youngsters in Europe. The talented midfielder is likely to leave Rennes this summer and Chelsea have also made their move. While it will not be straightforward, Camavinga’s reduced price tag makes him an appealing prospect to go after.
