According to transfer news from Birmingham Live, Chelsea starlet Juan Familia-Castillo is close to joining Birmingham City on loan. The Dutch defender will again be heading out this season after returning from ADO Den Haag.
Juan Familia-Castillo is a 21-year-old Dutch left-back, who is a youth prospect of Ajax. The youngster joined Chelsea in 2016. While he featured 46 times for the U-18s, once he was promoted to the U-23s, he was continuously sent out on loan.
Spells at Ajax, AZ Alkmaar and ADO Den Haag followed and it would seem that he will again be heading out. Birmingham City are looking to bring the Dutch youngster on loan. This is despite having a few names already in that position.
Familia-Castillo won’ be the only Chelsea player in Birmingham’s ranks, with Jake Clarke-Salter also in the side. However, his contract runs out in a year and Chelsea might want to extend that before sending him out.
Clearly, the player would be better served going out on loan, this time at an English club. For now, he is too far away from a spot in the first-team and needs to build up some first-team experience. A loan deal works for both parties for now as he would be getting more game time.
