According to The Athletic (subscription required), Chelsea and Denmark star Andreas Christensen is confident that his side can keep Harry Kane at bay. Denmark are set to play England in the semi-finals of the Euros and the Danish defender feels that his team will be able to handle an in-form Harry Kane who is being pursued by Chelsea.
As the knockouts of the Euros continue, there are now only four sides left. Spain are set to play Italy in a marquee clash while the other game will see England take on Denmark. Surprisingly, there is at least one Chelsea player on each of those sides.
Christensen, who will be lining up for Denmark, will have a huge task at hand. He and his defensive partners will be encountering a rejuvenated Harry Kane. The Chelsea transfer target has scored three goals in his last two games against Germany and Ukraine, brushing off any sort of doubt over his form.
With Denmark facing their biggest test yet, our Christensen has kept faith in his Denmark side that has shown incredible resilience. The defender is confident that Denmark knows how lethal Kane can be but still stop him.
“We know his qualities, and everyone has an idea of what we can do to stop him. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg also knows him, and it may be that he can share some things. All football players have their habits, and we must take advantage of them. He is good with his feet and he is one of the best finishers in football.
“I react a lot on instinct. He is very big, so it is hard to get into his body, but he also has great qualities with his feet, so you should not get too close either. I feel like we have the qualities to play against everyone. As a team, I would not say they are that much better.”
Kane’s future has been the subject of debate over the last month or so. The Spurs striker is keen on a move away and Chelsea have labelled him as a priority signing. However, for now, the focus still remains on the Euros as each team tries to reach the final and lift the trophy.
