Transfer News: Chelsea planning a sale of seven players

According to transfer news from Express, Chelsea are planning to sell about seven players as Thomas Tuchel revamps his squad. While five players are expected to be already heading out, Tuchel has not yet decided on the futures of Andreas Christensen and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

This will be the first transfer window that Thomas Tuchel will be overseeing at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have a good side at their disposal but if previous years are anything to go by, the club will need to bring in fresh faces while selling off some of the players they have.

The Blues have way too big of a squad at this point with several loanees set to return. Ahead of the summer transfer window, Chelsea have already put five names on the chopping block. Among the first team players, Emerson, Marcos Alonso and Tammy Abraham are expected to make way. Michy Batshuayi and Ross Barkley who returned from their loan spells are also set to be axed.

However, two players that Tuchel is undecided on are Andreas Christensen and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The former has given a good account of himself this season whenever called upon. However, Loftus-Cheek did not have the best of times at Fulham. The talent that these two have is forcing Tuchel to rethink his decisions.

The summer will likely see a host of players leave the club. However, Chelsea will need to think carefully about who they don’t need and who they should keep for squad depth. Selling off too many players in one go might result in a thinner squad at a time when clubs are playing over 50 games a season.
