According to transfer news from Mirror, Eden Hazard has finally broken his silence regarding a return to Chelsea. The Real Madrid forward has been linked with a return to his former club in recent weeks after a torrid two seasons at the Spanish capital.
Hazard lit up Stamford Bridge during his 7-year stay at the club since he joined from Lille in 2012. He got his dream move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 for an eye-watering £89m. But that has not worked out for him so far. The Belgian winger was troubled by a serious ankle injury in his first season and fitness issues have continued to haunt him this campaign as well.
Injuries have restricted the Belgian to just 21 appearances in all competitions this season. It was earlier reported that the forward wanted to leave the club in the summer. His preferred destination would be a return to Stamford Bridge.
Nonetheless, he has broken his silence regarding those return links to Chelsea.
“I still have a three-year contract with Real Madrid, so going back to England is out of the question. Everyone knows that my first two years were not good, so first I want to prove myself at Real Madrid. I will do everything to do that. I certainly don’t see myself leaving Madrid, given the contract situation. I know myself and I know when I’m in shape. If that’s the case, I can give it my all for Real next season. That’s my plan.”
Chelsea have been aware of the developments regarding hazard but are not explicitly pursuing their former talisman. The Blues already have other targets in mind after a successful season and they are likely to go after them instead of Hazard. Moreover, with Hazard ruling out a move, it might be a good while before we can see him back in blue.
