Chelsea Transfer News: Marina Granovskaia has promised an exit to Olivier Giroud
According to transfer news from Daily Star, club director Marina Granovskaia has promised Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud an exit. This is despite Giroud signing a one-year extension to stay at the club.
Giroud has been with Chelsea since January 2018, having signed from rivals Arsenal. While he hasn’t always been a regular in the starting XI, the French international has made vital contributions to the team’s cause at every step of the way, winning the FA Cup, the Europa League and the Champions League.
At the end of the season though, it was believed that Giroud would be on his way out, with his contract expiring. However, the Blues made a major U-turn by extending his contract by another year. His new deal will keep him at the club for another season.
While it was thought so initially that the World Cup winner would be remaining at Chelsea, it does not appear so. Club director Granovskaia has apparently promised Giroud that he will be allowed to leave the club in the summer regardless of the extension. It would appear as if the extension would help Chelsea get some sort of transfer fee for him.

Prior to his extension, Giroud had been linked with a move to AC Milan. While they would have liked a free transfer, they will now have to shell out some amount for him. The player is also keen on a move and it’s for the best that he is being allowed to leave.
