Chelsea stars send message to talented teammate after impressive display in Euro 2020

Euro 2020: Jorginho, Christian Pulisic praise Chelsea teammate Billy Gilmour for performance against England

According to the Metro, Chelsea stars Jorginho and Christian Pulisic have lavished praise on teammate and Scotland international Billy Gilmour after his display against England at the UEFA Euro 2020.

The 20-year-old was making his first start for Scotland, in the clash against England at the Wembley Stadium. A high-pressure situation given what was at stake, the Chelsea youngster did not look overawed by the occasion at all.

Instead, Gilmour dominated the proceedings and, in the end, was the main difference as the two teams played out a goalless draw. The former Rangers’ starlet was named the Man of the Match on his first start for the Tartan Army and naturally drew praises from all quarters after his performance.

After Gilmour posted an image on his social media account in the aftermath of the contest, his Chelsea teammate Jorginho wrote: “Well done Bebezinho”. Meanwhile, another Blues’ star Pulisic wrote, “My dawg” alongside two fire emojis. (h/t Metro)

Scotland manager Steve Clarke was also full of praise for the young midfielder, claiming that he was not surprised by what the youngster was able to do on the night.

“I don’t think there is any risk when you have somebody of Billy Gilmour’s talent. When you put him on the pitch you expect him to do what he did. He held the ball for us and allowed us to play through the midfield.

“We were ready to support Billy in his role and I think we did that. It was great to see him get through 70 odd minutes on his first start.  I have said for the last year that Billy will be a big part of the future of Scotland. We will try to take care of him and make sure he is a big player in the future.”

More Chelsea News:

Gilmour did not get a lot of opportunities under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea in the season gone by. Hopefully, his performances at the Euros, starting from the one against England, are enough to force the German tactician to change his thinking.
