According to transfer news from reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano, Fiorentina are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko. New manager Gennaro Gattuso is keen on working with the Frenchman again and will pursue a loan deal.
The 26-year-old joined Chelsea after an impressive spell at Monaco in 2017. Despite having a number of opportunities, the Frenchman failed to impress and has struggled to assert himself at the Bridge. He has since been sent out on loan thrice, including Napoli last summer.
New Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is also not keen on including the midfielder in his future plans. With Napoli also not too keen on taking him, he is currently at crossroads in his career. Napoli also parted ways with Gattuso but he was immediately hired by Fiorentina.
Now, it has been claimed by Romano that Gattuso could be set for a reunion with Bakayoko. Fiorentina have started talks with Chelsea over a loan deal as the midfielder is expected to leave the club again. There remains the small issue of his salary though.
A dominant midfielder for Monaco, much was expected of Bakayoko when he joined Chelsea. Unfortunately, despite his best efforts, it was not to be. It would now appear that his future lies elsewhere. Bakayoko has made 43 appearances for the Blues, scoring three goals. All of them came in his first season.
