Chelsea Transfer News: Fikayo Tomori on the brink of permanent AC Milan switch

According to transfer news from Football.london, Chelsea are close to finalizing the sale of Fikayo Tomori to AC Milan. The Italian club are expected to announce the €27million signing of the defender in the coming days.

A product of the Chelsea youth academy, Tomori broke into the first-team in 2019 after loan spells away at Hull City and Derby County. Initially a regular under Frank Lampard, the England international found himself out of favour since the second half of that season.

Tomori dropped further down the pecking order this term following the arrival of Thiago Silva on a free transfer. Having been deprived of game time at the Bridge, he moved to Milan in January, where he thrived endlessly. The 23-year-old quickly went about establishing himself as a mainstay at the back for the Rossoneri.

With such impressive showings, Milan were keen on signing him on a permanent deal. Indeed, they are now close to doing so in the next few days. A €27million deal is expected to be completed in the next few days and officially announce the permanent signing on Friday.

Tomori’s 15-year association with the Blues finally seems to be coming to an end this summer. While it would be hindsight to say Chelsea should not have let Tomori leave, the fact remains that Chelsea have enough players who can do the job for them as we have seen. Nonetheless, the Blues are all set to land some decent cash from this sale.
