According to transfer news from Express, Chelsea could offer one of their players in a swap deal for Romelu Lukaku. With clubs still feeling the financial effects of the pandemic, Chelsea could look into their own side and offer Inter Milan one of their players in a bid to reduce the transfer fee for Romelu Lukaku.
It has been a very successful season for the Blues. Thomas Tuchel delivered the ultimate prize when Chelsea beat Man City in the Champions League final. While the side look good in almost every area, there has been the glaring issue of regular goals not coming in.
Chelsea have three out and out strikers in the side but perhaps it was ironic that midfielder Kai Havertz was their best bet in front of goal. That has led Chelsea to go after big names in the market, one of which is former Chelsea man Romelu Lukaku.
It is expected that Lukaku might cost a handsome amount in transfer fees. That means Chelsea could try to lower the same by offering one of their players in a swap deal. Four such players are being considered by the club, who can be sent to Inter Milan to bring back Lukaku.
The first name, surprisingly, is that of Christian Pulisic. The USA international was expected to become a star at Chelsea but has not been a regular under Tuchel. Next up is Jorginho. The Blues are trying to go after Declan Rice, which should give them a reason to let go of Jorginho.
The last two names aren’t that surprising in the sense that they are not first-team regulars. Kepa has slipped to a deputy role after the arrival of Edouard Mendy. On the other hand, Emerson hardly featured this season.
It’s not the case that Chelsea are strapped for cash. However, it’s just good sense to offer a player who is not in the manager’s plans to reduce the transfer fee. The funds saved can be used for other transfers.
