Chelsea star Mason Mount set to be recalled for England vs Germany
According to the Daily Mail, England manager Gareth Southgate is set to recall Mason Mount to his lineup for their game against Germany in the UEFA Euro 2020 on Tuesday.
An ever-present in the England lineup for a while now, Mount had to sit out the previous game against the Czech Republic as he had to self-isolate after coming in contact with Chelsea teammate and Scotland international Billy Gilmour, who tested positive for coronavirus after the goalless draw between England and Scotland.
As a result, Mount along with Chelsea teammate Ben Chilwell were both forced to quarantine, leading to the pair missing the 1-0 win against the Czech Republic, which earned England a way through to the Round of 16. Now the Three Lions are set to face old foes Germany in the first knockout round on Tuesday evening.
And, even though Mount and Chilwell’s quarantine period ends only on Monday night, manager Southgate is set to recall him to the side against Die Mannschaft at the Wembley Stadium, claims the aforementioned report.
While match fitness remains a concern, Mount has been training hard individually to keep himself ready when the time comes, which ought to boost the chances of his involvement on Tuesday against Joachim Low & co. The report further adds that both Mount and Chilwell have been participating in team meetings via Zoom.
