According to transfer news from Mirror, Chelsea have rejected an offer for Tammy Abraham from Besiktas. It is understood that the Turkish side wanted Abraham on loan but Chelsea refused to accept that. The club are likely looking at a permanent deal for the fringe striker.
Tammy Abraham is going through a lull at Chelsea. It has become an all too familiar sight to see the academy graduate on the bench, or even out of the matchday squads in the last few weeks of the campaign. The striker hardly featured over the last three months or so.
The England international slipped down the pecking order after the arrival of Thomas Tuchel. The likes of Timo Werner, Olivier Giroud and Kai Havertz have been given more ahead of the academy graduate in the forward line.
The Blues are keen to offload the striker and are looking at bids of around £40m. Hence, it was no surprise to see them reject a loan bid from Turkish side Besiktas. While West Ham have also been credited with an interest, they are likely to be priced out of any deal.
It looks more and more certain that Abraham will depart Stamford Bridge in the summer. Chelsea rejecting a loan deal is understandable in the sense that he would still be on their books. A permanent departure would suit both players as well as the club.
