According to transfer news from Football.london, Jonas Hofmann has spoken out regarding his links to Chelsea. The German winger expressed pride in being linked to clubs like Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.
A youth product of TSG Hoffenheim, Hofmann has spent his whole career in Germany. He has had stints with TSG Hoffenheim, Borussia Dortmund, FSV Mainz and Borussia Monchengladbach. However, it was only after his move to Gladbach that he started to gain some consistency.
Thomas Tuchel and Hofmann worked together during their time at Borussia Dortmund. Now as Hofmann wraps up his career-best season with 8 goals and 13 assists in 33 games, interest in the player is starting to grow. Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are the two clubs to have shown interest in the German.
There is yet to be a formal bid from Chelsea but Hofmann opened up on he felt about being linked to clubs such as Chelsea.
“Without sounding arrogant, it makes me proud when your name is associated with such top clubs. [It is] a great recognition [of my performances].”
It was recently reported that Gladbach are keen on keeping Hofmann but their sporting director accepted that they will have to sell if a bid of €40m comes in. Hofmann is a versatile player who can play a wide variety of roles. It will be interesting to see how Chelsea proceed from here and act on their interest.
