Transfer News: Chelsea dealt setback in Niklas Sule pursuit
According to transfer news from Daily Mail, Chelsea have been dealt a setback in their pursuit of Niklas Sule. Bayern Munich are planning to extend the £30m-rated defender’s current deal which ends next year.
Chelsea and Tuchel are said to be after a new centre-back as they look to refresh their defensive options for next season. The club have relied on the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma this season.
The Blues had shortlisted Bayern’s Niklas Sule as a potential option. They are hoping to take advantage of his contract situation at the club. His current deal is set to end in 2022 and there have been no talks of an extension. Sule has faced a host of injuries during his spell at Bayern but is still considered one of the better defenders in the league.
Now, Chelsea might not be getting their hands on Sule. Bayern are willing to extend his current deal until 2023. This is somewhat understandable given they just let go of two senior defenders, leaving the department a little light. Plus, Sule is young and has a bright future ahead of him.
