Chelsea could go after five alternative strikers after latest Lukaku comments

Transfer News: Chelsea could go after five alternative strikers instead of Romelu Lukaku

According to transfer news from Express, Chelsea could turn their attention to other strikers after getting a blow in the chase for Romelu Lukaku. The Inter Milan striker cleared the air regarding his future and wants to remain at the club.

It is public knowledge at this point that Chelsea are on the lookout for a new and prolific goalscorer. The pursuit of a new centre-forward is very much understandable given the situation of some of our current options in the striker position.

Tammy Abraham has found himself out of favour ever since Thomas Tuchel took over the reins. Olivier Giroud’s contract with the Blues also expiring at the end of the season. Moreover, there’s the inconsistent season that Timo Werner has had.

Initially, Chelsea wanted to re-sign their former striker Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian is coming off the back of a splendid season at Inter, pushing Inter to the title. However, Chelsea might have to look in a new direction after Lukaku admitted that he was going to remain at Inter.

Chelsea looking at alternatives after Lukaku setback

As for Chelsea, they now have to turn to some of the alternatives. The first on the list is Erling Haaland. The Dortmund sensation has been on fire over the last two seasons. Chelsea are one of the clubs to be linked to him. His Bayern Munich counterpart, Robert Lewandowski is also said to be a target for the Blues.

Sticking to the Bundesliga, the resurgence of Andre Silva has not gone unnoticed and he is also on the club’s wishlist. Closer to home, Harry Kane has spoken about wanting to leave Spurs and Chelsea have been labelled as a possible destination. Lastly, there is Lukaku’s partner in crime, Lautaro Martinez, who could be available after the sacking of Antonio Conte.

More Chelsea News:

Chelsea need a new striker and they will be making a mistake by not signing one ahead of the new season. Their defence has often bailed them out this season and Tuchel will be wary of that. All the names mentioned are very good options and getting even one of them would be helpful.
