Transfer News: Chelsea dealt blow in Jude Bellingham pursuit
According to transfer news from Mirror, Chelsea have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Jude Bellingham. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder could be set for a new two-year deal at the German club. That will dash the hopes of Chelsea who were hoping to sign him.
The 17-year-old is one of the most exciting young talents in Europe currently. Having burst onto the scenes at Birmingham City last season, where he became a first-team regular just aged 16, the midfielder sealed a high-profile transfer to Dortmund in the summer last year.
Since moving to Germany, Bellingham has absolutely thrived, becoming a permanent fixture in the middle of the park for the Black and Yellows. To date, the teenage midfielder has featured 46 times across all competitions for Dortmund, scoring and assisting three goals each.
Bellingham to remain at Dortmund
Bellingham’s sudden rise to the top meant that sides like Chelsea were keeping tabs on him. While they were hoping he would have been a cheaper alternative to Declan Rice, those hopes have been dashed. Bellingham is likely to be offered a new two-year deal by the German side meaning that he will not move over the summer.

The Blues will now have to look at alternatives such as Saul Niguez. While Bellingham’s signing would have been one for the long haul, Chelsea are unlikely to get that done. It’s not that Chelsea urgently need a midfielder but they could use a new addition.
