According to transfer news from Mirror, Victor Moses will finally depart Chelsea in a permanent deal. The Nigerian is on loan at Spartak Moscow in Russia this season and they have an option to sign him for £4m at the end of the season, which they intend to do.
The winger joined Chelsea from Wigan Athletic in 2014. He went on three successive loan spells to Liverpool, West Ham and Stoke. It was only under Antonio Conte in 2016 that he found a regular run in the side.
However, that consistent run ended when Conte left the club in 2018. Moses also left on loan to Fenerbahce and also had spells at Inter Milan and Spartak Moscow. During his six years at the club, Moses has made just 128 appearances, scoring 13 goals and assisting 18 more. (h/t Transfermarkt)
When he joined Spartak at the start of this season, there was a release clause inserted in his contract. With Moses impressing during his stay, the club are keen to pay the £4m in the clause. Moses’ contract with Chelsea also ends this season.
A departure this season would end Moses’ 9-year association with Chelsea. During that time, he has had six loan spells and was given chances only for a brief period of time. Given the plethora of talent at the club’s disposal, it is imperative that a number of players will have to be moved on and Moses is among them.
