Thomas Tuchel hopeful on the availability of Chelsea duo for Champions League final
According to Eurosport, Thomas Tuchel is hopeful of having the Chelsea duo of Edouard Mendy and N’Golo Kante for the Champions League final. The pair were labelled as doubtful for the final but Tuchel is optimistic about having them back for Saturday’s showpiece event.
The Blues lost two of their most important stars in their last two league games. First, it was N’Golo Kante who walked off at half-time against Leicester City. He subsequently missed the Aston Villa game due to the groin problem.
In the Villa game itself, Chelsea lost another important player in Edouard Mendy. The Senegalese shot-stopper collided with the post while making a save and injured his rib. He was then taken off as Kepa deputised in the second half.
As the Champions League final edges closer, Chelsea were still sweating on the fitness of the pair. Nonetheless, Thomas Tuchel provided an encouraging update and was hopeful of having them back on Saturday.
“N’Golo is looking good and I hope he stays like that for Saturday. Edou made a huge improvement with the management of pain from when the injury happened, which is good. We hope to have him back. If he is fit, then Edou will play.”
