Tuchel admits Chelsea now have ‘true belief’ about going all the way in Champions League

Tuchel: Chelsea have true belief they can beat Man City in UCL final

Speaking to the club’s official website, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has admitted that there is a strong belief within the team that they can go all the way in the UCL final against Manchester City.

Chelsea made it to the final of the 2020/21 UCL after defeating Real Madrid in the semi-final over two legs. Having done so, the Blues squared off against their final opponents Manchester City in the league this past weekend in what was a dress rehearsal for the showpiece event later this month.

And, after having gone behind to the Cityzens in the first half, Chelsea mounted a spirited comeback to beat them 2-1 with second half goals from Hakim Ziyech and Marcos Alonso. The result meant that we have gotten the better of Pep Guardiola & co. twice in the space of a month, having beaten them in the FA Cup semi-final already.

Tuchel has now acknowledged that the Chelsea squad is in buoyant mood following the result and there is true belief that we can go all the way in the UCL final.

“I said before it would not change too much, no matter what result came out of this game. I will stick with that but surely it’s not a disadvantage for us to have this experience, in such a short time, of beating them twice.

“We know very well that if you play a final, it’s very special and you fight for every centimetre and every advantage that you can make to win the game. But, yes, it gives us the true belief that we can do it because we’ve already done it. We’ll try to conserve the feeling and this momentum for our arrival in Istanbul, because we’ll arrive with a clear target and a clear objective to win.”
