Thomas Tuchel tipped to demand this key signing from the Chelsea board

Transfer News: Thomas Tuchel tipped to demand a striker from Chelsea

According to transfer news from Express, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel could demand that the club sign a striker. Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves believes that the German manager has earned the right to desperately demand a striker from Chelsea after guiding them to a fourth-place finish.

Tuchel has done a good job in the four months he has been in charge of Chelsea. From being outsiders for qualifying for the Champions League, Chelsea have managed to secure the same on the last day (albeit with a little help from Tottenham). Lest we forget, the Blues are also in the Champions League final and are in with a shot at winning the trophy.

However, when Tuchel joined the club, he hardly had time to get any transfers done. The upcoming summer transfer window will be the first time he will get a say in the transfers of the club. Chelsea have struggled for goals this season to the point that Jorginho is the club’s top-scorer in the league with 7 goals. None of the players has reached double figures.

With the side struggling for goals, it is no surprise to see them getting linked to strikers such as Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku and Erling Haaland. Owen Hargreaves believes that Tuchel is now in a position to demand that the club sign a striker.

“I think the big thing for Thomas Tuchel will be the fact he can then say to the club: ‘Right get me some players, get me some of my players that can go and make the difference’. I think their top scorer had seven goals, Jorginho – that’s crazy for a Champions League team. So I think for Tuchel he can say ‘right get me a centre-forward that I desperately want and need’.”

Chelsea still have the biggest of prizes to play for on the 29th of May as they take on Manchester City. After that, Chelsea will have to get back to the drawing board to figure out which positions they need players in and which players should be signed.
