According to transfer news from the Mirror, Chelsea stars Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso are looking to leave the club. It has been said that the full-backs, who are on the fringes, will look to leave the club as they want to become valuable players.
Alonso was among some of the names under Frank Lampard who were frozen out of the squad. Before Tuchel took over, Alonso fell out with Lampard and hence he hardly featured. However, in Thomas Tuchel’s first game, Alonso was restored to the starting XI and the wing-back role he flourishes in. Since then, he has featured for the side but not consistently.
Emerson has struggled massively to get any sort of game time this season. He has played a staggeringly low number of minutes, with most of them coming in cup competitions. Ben Chilwell has pretty much been Chelsea’s first-choice left-back/wingback.
As Chelsea start to make their transfer plans for next season, they are looking at the likes of Erling Haaland and Harry Kane. Even though a massive £150m has been promised to Tuchel, player sales might be needed to raise more funds.
Luckily for them, Emerson and Alonso might have given them a way to do so by seeking exits from the club. Both players are below Chilwell in the pecking order and have hardly featured this season. The duo wants to play more of an important role at the club but that might not be possible at Chelsea.
