Transfer News: Chelsea to rival Manchester City for Jonathan Clauss
According to transfer news from Express, Chelsea are set to rival Manchester City for the signing of Jonathan Clauss. The Lens wing-back has been a standout performer this season and that has led to interest from a bunch of clubs.
It’s not even been one year since the 28-year-old Frenchman arrived from Armenia Bielefeld, however, he has managed to make himself an indispensable asset for Lens. He also moved on a free transfer which means that it has been all the sweeter.
So far, Clauss has scored thrice and assisted six times this campaign. He has been a key part of the Lens side that are sixth in Ligue 1 currently. Calls to the national team have also been doing the rounds after an impressive season. Clauss is a versatile customer who can play anywhere on the right flank, predominantly featuring as a wing-back.
However, his good form has not gone past clubs like Chelsea. A move of around €6-10m could be expected. However, they will have competition, none bigger than their Champions League final opponents Manchester City. There has also been reported interest from Sevilla.
