According to transfer news from Express, Chelsea are set to receive a boost in their pursuit of Niklas Sule. Bayern Munich are prepared to let the 25-year-old leave in the summer to raise funds for other transfers.
Chelsea and Tuchel are said to be after a new centre-back as they look to refresh their defensive options for next season. The club have relied on the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma this season.
The Blues had shortlisted Bayern’s Niklas Sule as a potential option. They are hoping to take advantage of his contract situation at the club. His current deal is set to end in 2022 and there have been no talks of an extension. Sule has faced a host of injuries during his spell at Bayern but is still considered as one of the better defenders in the league.
Nonetheless, Bayern are all set to give Chelsea a chance to get their hands on Sule. They are willing to let the player leave as they are looking at a defensive clearout. It will also see the likes of David Alaba and Jerome Boateng leave the club. Bayern have already signed Dayot Upamecano for next summer and want to recoup something from the sale of Sule.
Sule might be having his troubles at Bayern but he is still a talented defender who has potential. Chelsea should try to take advantage of the situation presented to them by Bayern. With time running out on his current deal, Chelsea might just get to strike a cut-price deal for the German.
