“The best thing” – Chelsea star heaps the praise on Tuchel for key decision before Real Madrid win

Timo Werner praises key Thomas Tuchel decision before Real Madrid win

According to Football.london, Chelsea ace Timo Werner hailed the decision Thomas Tuchel took before the Real Madrid clash. Tuchel reportedly allowed the players to stay back and sleep at their own homes the night before the Real Madrid game so as to get them relaxed.

Chelsea booked the last ticket to the Champions League final as they toppled Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge. Goals from Timo Werner and Mason Mount in each half were enough as Real Madrid struggled to break Chelsea’s blockade.

Werner got a much-needed goal after missing a sitter in the last leg and having another ruled out as offside in the opening few minutes in the second leg. His open net tap-in was a huge boost for Chelsea as they took the lead and never looked back.

However, prior to the game, Thomas Tuchel took a big decision in allowing players to spend the night at their own place instead of the team hotel. Timo Werner praised the same after the match.

“I know the manager loves it to go to the hotel before the game and have everyone together, but I think for us players, it’s the best thing to sleep at home, be around your family, your normal home. It worked the last game and it worked today. That’s a good thing that the manager decided this.”

It did work a charm as Chelsea looked much the better side through the 90 minutes. While Real did get a few opportunities, Mendy kept his cool to deny them. Chelsea might need to look back on the game due to the missed chances. The game could have been over by half-time had they taken them. Nonetheless, a final with Manchester City awaits in Istanbul.
