Chelsea News: Thomas Tuchel set to sign new 3-year contract
According to news from Daily Mail, Chelsea are all set to offer Thomas Tuchel a new 3-year contract. This comes directly as a result of the success he has brought to the club over the last 4 months, guiding the Blues to two finals.
It’s hard to sometimes remember that Frank Lampard was in charge of the club halfway through the season. Such has been the impact of Tuchel since taking over in late January this year. From a side struggling to break into the top six to challenging for two trophies and top 4, the Blues have surely come a long way under the former PSG manager.
It was clear from the first game that Thomas Tuchel meant business and set about doing so. He changed the formation to a back-three and deployed different tactics that made Chelsea a solid team than before. He brought back players frozen out by Lampard and threw them into the first-team.
Chelsea are currently fourth in the league, have secured a place in the Champions League final and in the final of the FA Cup as well. Now that is no short of a wonder. To reward those efforts, Chelsea are planning to hand him a new three-year contract extension that will extend his stay beyond 2022. It will initially be a 2-year deal with the option of a further year.
The new deal would also see an increment in his current pay. There are also a number of incentives that he can get if the club wins the Champions League and FA Cup. Chelsea have used this incentivised style to reduce costs in paying off sacked managers.

With the work he has done in just three months, it’s hard to argue with Chelsea’s decision. He has completely transformed Chelsea from a wayward side to a side that can go toe-to-toe with Europe’s elite. Fans will no doubt be happy on hearing this.
