According to Football.london, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has outlined what the club is planning for the upcoming summer transfer window and his role in the said plans.
Tuchel arrived at the Bridge in January earlier this year following the sacking of Frank Lampard. Since his arrival, Tuchel has done an incredible job, taking the team to the FA Cup final as well as the UEFA Champions League semi-final. In addition to that, the Blues have emerged as top contenders to finish fourth in the Premier League as well.
There had been apprehensions over his appointment, which was indicated by the fact that the club giving him just an 18-month contract. Despite his short contract, the German has his opinions on the players that Chelsea should secure in the summer and said he was involved heavily in player recruitment discussions.
“I have opinions about what we can add to the group to get better, this is my job and I will give my opinion but sometimes the opinions change. “I have opinions about what we can add to the group to get better, this is my job and I will give my opinion but sometimes the opinions change.”
Tuchel, though, was confident that Chelsea don’t need any huge investment in the summer, insisting that the current squad is full of quality and big personalities.
“The players that we have are fantastic, with big personalities and right now it is the moment we get to know each other better and better. There’s always room but I have a strong feeling we are not in a rush, a big need and very relaxed. Right now, everybody is fully focused and it is not the time to get distracted with any other subjects.”
Tuchel may have signed a short-term contract upon arrival. But given the work that he has done in such a short period of time, a new, longer contract should be on the table in the near future. And with that, the German will obviously have a crucial role to play in the transfer business that the club carries out.
