“He has a big heart” – Thomas Tuchel all praise for Arsenal talisman ahead of Premier League clash

Thomas Tuchel all praises for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ahead of Chelsea vs Arsenal

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel recalled his time with Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ahead of their sides’ game (h/t Daily Mail). The pair worked together during their spell at Borussia Dortmund.

Ahead of the London derby, Thomas Tuchel spoke about how Aubameyang was as a person during the time he managed the latter in Germany. It was in 2015 that Tuchel took over as Dortmund boss when Aubameyang was starting to make a name for himself at the club.

While Tuchel left after two seasons to manage PSG, the Gabonese forward left the club in 2018 to join Arsenal. Their paths are about to cross again as Chelsea take on Arsenal in their 35th game of the season.

The German manager was of the opinion that Aubameyang left a lasting impression on him during the two seasons they worked together.

“It was a pure pleasure to have him in the squad. A fantastic striker, a fantastic finisher but more than that, a fantastic worker off the pitch. Always with a smile on his face. Very, very honest. A bit of a crazy guy but nice crazy.

He did not miss one single training session in two years. Maybe he arrived five minutes late, that can happen with him, but if he does this, he is in a hurry, he has excuses, he is sorry and he has still a smile on his face. That’s him, and it’s hard to be really mad with the guy. He has a big heart.”

This London derby will have a lot of impact on the table with Chelsea seeking to cement a top-four place after Leicester won against Man United. A win will create some distance from the likes of West Ham and Liverpool. Meanwhile, Arsenal will hope to make a push for the Europa League places with a win.
