According to transfer news from the Northern Echo, Newcastle are interested in loan deals for the Chelsea duo of Tammy Abraham and Billy Gilmour. The Magpies will aim to bring in the pair who have been on the fringes at Chelsea if the Blues make them available.
Tammy Abraham is having a torrid time at Chelsea. It has become an all too familiar sight to see the academy graduate on the bench, or even out of the matchday squads in recent weeks. The striker has hardly featured over the last 3 months or so. He has often come off the bench in the dying minutes or has not featured at all.
The Scottish midfielder has found game time tough to come by under Tuchel ever since his appointment. The former PSG boss even stopped a loan move for Gilmour at the end of the January transfer window. It wasn’t until the end of the season that Gilmour was handed a few games.
The Magpies are expected to add to their side for next season but funds might not be that abundant. That could lead them to go after loan deals much like they did this season with Joe Willock. They have spoken to Chelsea about their interest in the pair. Even though Chelsea are reluctant on the same, their stance might change over the course of the transfer window.
Chelsea have an oversized squad at this point, with several players slipping to the fringes. Given that the likes of Gilmour and Abraham are still young, their growth will be hampered if they are benched. The Blues might be keen on a loan deal for Gilmour but want a permanent deal for Abraham. It will be interesting to see what Chelsea decide for these two.
