Julian Nagelsmann tips Tuchel on how to get the best out of Timo Werner

Julian Nagelsmann advises Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel on Timo Werner

According to Express, Julian Nagelsmann has advised Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel on Timo Werner. The soon-to-be Bayern Munich boss explained how Werner can only flourish when he gets comfortable in his role at the club.

Timo Werner might have scored one of the most important goals for Chelsea this season when he headed home into an empty net against Real Madrid. That is his only goal from open play in the Champions League this season so far. Despite only joining the club this season, he has failed to match his previously high standards.

Real Madrid s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois R in action against Chelsea s Timo Werner 2-L during the UEFA Champions League first leg semifinal soccer match between Real Madrid CF and Chelsea FC at Alfredo Di Stefano stadium in Madrid, Spain, 27 April 2021.

It has been an all too familiar sight of Werner missing chance after chance. The German striker missed another glorious opportunity to get an important away goal against Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final. Prior to this, Werner squandered several easy chances in league games as well as the FA Cup final.

Werner’s former manager at RB Leipzig has spoken up on his struggles and had a word of advice for Thomas Tuchel.

“Thomas [Tuchel] is a great coach and has shown in the past that he can make players better. Timo is a player that performs best when he is in his comfort zone, and I am still sure he will fit well in the Chelsea squad. Every striker goes through these periods once in a while. There have been times when Timo did not score in Leipzig as well. It is just a phase you have to get through.”

More Chelsea News:

It is understandable that Werner is struggling given he is playing in a whole different league with new players. There was also a managerial change that would have had some effect. However, with each passing game and each goal missed, it is getting harder to justify his continued selection in the side.
