“I am fascinated”: Ligue 1 star issues come-and-get-me transfer plea to Chelsea

Lyon defender Mattia De Sciglio admits he is fascinated by Chelsea

According to the Express, Mattia De Sciglio, who is on loan at Olympique Lyon from Juventus, has issued a come-and-get-me transfer plea to Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window.

De Sciglio came through the youth ranks at AC Milan and made a name for himself at San Siro before joining Juventus in 2017. However, the 28-year-old defender wasn’t able to live up to expectations in Turin and having fallen down the pecking order, was loaned out to Lyon last summer.

De Sciglio has fared decently in his debut season in France, racking up three assists in 33 appearances across all competitions. The Italian full-back’s loan deal is on the verge of expiry at the end of the season.

And, he has now opened up on his future prospects, claiming that he would be willing to continue in Lyon. At the same time, the Italy international has admitted that he is fascinated by Chelsea and would love a transfer to the Premier League. (Tuttosport h/t Express)

“I’d like to stay here at Lyon. I feel well on and off the pitch. Alternatively, I’d like to try a new experience abroad, possibly in England. I am fascinated by the Premier League and Chelsea, but right now, I am only focused on the last part of the season.”

Given the rise that Chelsea have enjoyed under the stewardship of Thomas Tuchel in the second half of the season, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that players are attracted at the prospect of moving to Stamford Bridge.

More Chelsea News:

Having taken over the reins of the club when were in a difficult situation, Tuchel has guided the club to the FA Cup final and the UEFA Champions League final while we also look nailed on for a top-four finish in the league as well.

So, it is natural for De Sciglio, or any other player for that matter, to be fascinated by the prospect of playing for Chelsea. However, considering that we already have a stockpile of full-backs at the club, it is unlikely that Chelsea are likely to reciprocate the interest from the Italian.
