According to transfer news from TEAMtalk, Jose Mourinho wants Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma at AS Roma. The Portuguese will soon take over at Roma and wants the former player at his new club.
Kurt Zouma was one of the signings Mourinho made when he returned for his second spell at Chelsea. The Frenchman was tipped as a talented defender with the potential to grow. However, he was sent on a couple of loan spells before finally making the cut at Chelsea.
While Chelsea started with a back four this season, Frank Lampard used Kurt Zouma and Thiago Silva as his first-choice pairing. However, once Tuchel took over, he switched to a back three and brought back the likes of Azpilicueta and Rudiger. That left Zouma on the benches for most of the games.
Now, Zouma could be rescued by Mourinho as the pair could reunite at Mourinho’s new club. Roma appointed him for next season and the former Chelsea manager wants to sign Zouma again. Mourinho has always held Zouma in high regard and even tried to sign him at Manchester United and Spurs.
With so many centre-backs at Chelsea’s disposal and their intention to sign another, it wouldn’t be an entirely bad option to consider a possible approach by Roma. Chelsea can offload a fringe player and also get some cash to reinvest in the side.
